Jason Kelce, always the… center of attention, reminded us why he’s the unofficial mayor of Philadelphia with his recent Dallas dig. During the latest episode of EPSN’s Monday Night Countdown, Kelce quipped that Dallas was the “butthole and armpit of America,” which immediately elicited bewildered and negative reactions from his colleagues. The joke was clearly a nod to the long-standing Philly-Dallas rivalry and a playful riff on Mina Kimes’s earlier comment about Springfield being the “armpit of America’s butt crack.”
Jason Kelce, former Philadelphia Eagles Center, Making a Dallas Joke is Fine
Let’s be real here: what did you expect? Jason Kelce is a former Eagle and King of South Philly. Of course, he was going to take a jab at the Cowboys—it’s practically in his DNA at this point. This is the man who gave us that speech at the Super Bowl parade in 2018, dressed like a Mummer, calling out every doubter and naysayer. He lives for this kind of thing. Have… have you seen or heard his podcast?
To those clutching their pearls at ESPN or in Dallas, calm down. It’s a joke. If Dak Prescott had gone on national television and said something similar about Philadelphia, we’d be annoyed but ultimately roll our eyes and move on. That’s what rivalries are about—banter, barbs, and occasionally turning it into bulletin board material. Jason Kelce’s comment wasn’t malicious; it was just another chapter in the greatest feud in the NFC East.
They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce
Anyway, tickets for his late-night show, They Call It Late Night, are dropping tomorrow, December 11th, at 1 p.m. EST on 1iota.com. I think we can expect a mix of mouse ESPN friendly and classic Jason Kelce humor during these late night episodes.
Dallas Sucks.
