Good morning phaithful, let’s skip the preamble and talk about last night.

The Flyers lost a game they desperately needed to, hooray. Boston lost in overtime, granting them the loser point in their finale. Buffalo and Seattle didn’t do us any favors, both losing in regulation. So, the scene is set. While other, more successful teams *cough* Montreal *cough* are entering their final day of the regular season, trying to make the playoffs, we here in the Illadelph are looking at finishing with somewhere from the 4th best lottery odds to 7th.
Based on the game tomorrow night in Buffalo, here are what the Flyers’ lottery odds will be based on the result:
- Win in regulation: They have the 7th-best lottery odds.
- Win in OT/SO: They have the 6th-best lottery odds.
- Lose in OT/SO: They have the 6th-best lottery odds.
- Lose in regulation: They have the 4th-best lottery odds.
Now, for the disappointing concept that most casual fans aren’t thinking about, they could get jumped by two teams in the improbable but still possible chance that two lottery teams with worse odds win the lottery and jump up in the draft order. That could put them anywhere from 6th to 9th, depending on how they finish tomorrow night. Again, in a draft with at most 6 prospects that are graded highly.
They simply have to lose to a team that has less of a reason to care then we do, the Buffalo Sabres.
We’re screwed aren’t we??!
