Good Morning (is it still morning? Guess that depends on the guy in charge of the website, morning Kev!) Philadelphia! How are we in the cold light of this Victory Monday? I’m not too bad but then again I knew that I had a bunch to do (and my initial plans for yesterday were inauspiciously canceled by the hosts…Not cool) so I am probably on more sleep and hydration than approximately 90% of you reading this. To be fair, I also saw exactly what happened on the field coming, Christ if you’re a regular listener I’ve been saying for two weeks that it wouldn’t be close.
Over By The Half

Now, with that humble brag on Front Street, the breakdown is that I called the game over at halftime, which is apparently too early for most of the overly superstitious “I won’t believe it until it’s over” people that lit me up on socials and texts last night. I sat back and enjoyed the halftime show because that defense wasn’t allowing a comeback, it was over. The bad guys won. And don’t get your narratives twisted, while most people said they didn’t want to see the Chiefs win the game, we are still the bad guys. Never forget that they still don’t like us, and we still don’t fucking care.
As the second half turned more into me assessing which bets I still had to be paid on I started rooting for very explicit things like Jake Elliott kicking for more than 14+ points (thanks buddy, Kev may still hate you but I’m ready to put you in the Eagles HOF); a fumble recovery (defense showed up and showed out); a second Jalen TD (missed that one but I was officially greedy at that point); and a Saquon anytime TD (also unfortunate, but I don’t think he cares this morning… At this point, I realized that this little project of mine is going to have to produce a decent bit of content for all 37 of you (lol) to gobble up in the coming weeks, which is why I made the concerted effort to stop enjoying my favorite beverage from the NOLA area and hop on to record the anthology pod we released earlier this morning. But, with all that exposition notwithstanding, the fact that the collective metropolitan area is at work/school right now, or had to use PTO to properly recover from yesterday is not in line with the principle that the Founding Fathers had in mind while they sweated half-to-death in that tiny room on Chestnut and 6th.
Super Bowl Monday Should Be a Holiday

No, we as a people should be entitled to the ability to revel in the holiday that is Super Bowl Sunday as we see fit with the comfort and safety of knowing in the back of our minds that the consequences of the next day are moot because it is a holiday. And while I suspect that the NFL is going to use this scheduling necessity for the American people as a means to the end of getting an 18th regular season game (albeit with two bye weeks) to push the season back one more week and probably remove one more preseason game which will allow college football the unadulterated window of the last 2 weeks of August and first of September to themselves. But regardless of these motives, we the people deserve to have the Monday after the Super Bowl off and I feel for all of you aboard the struggle bus today. You must hold onto the hope though my brethren, that we struggle today to live in glory on Friday! I hope to see each and every one of your faces along the route.
Go Birds.
