We’ve hit a point where this evening’s Western Conference Playoff games mean something significant to the Flyers… SO WATCH HOCKEY!

The Stanley Cup Playoffs have been unreal thus far, but I know none of you are watching them, I see the ratings and shake my head in disappointment every time… It’s fine, keep watching the NBA Playoffs which are significantly worse and much more disappointing for the Phaithful of the city. Or, keep on watching the Phillies… Watching the same show over and over and over again proves you’re not sane.
Hi Tyles! How was that month of standing room for like $3.67 per game? Was it worth the mental anguish? And this is coming from the Flyers guy…

The Dallas Stars take a 3-2 series lead into Colorado tonight and try to close out the Avs on the road. We want Dallas to win. Hold. Take a breath, read that again. WE WANT DALLAS TO WIN. A Stars win ensures the Avalanche Draft Pick will be no higher than the 25th pick in June’s Draft. The Flyers own the Avs’ pick this season for those too busy watching baseball. 25th or higher is a nice accoutrement to the Fly guys’ top-6 pick. So yes, just this once, we want Dallas to win something.
Roughly half an hour later, the weirdest first-round series will get its own Game 6 underway in Edmonton as the LA Kings try to even things up and force a Game 7. If you haven’t been watching this series, you are among the 99.3% of television viewers that aren’t watching it in North America, and that is sad, but I digress… This series has been odd because LA has outplayed the defending Western Conference Champions soundly in the first 2 periods of EACH game this series. You read that right. They then shift into this weird turn-of-the-millennium New Jersey Devils trap game plan that is the hockey equivalent of the prevent defense that works, until the Oilers get a powerplay or pull the goalie for an extra attacker. Then McJesus and crew score and win in overtime, rinse, repeat. We, as the Flyers’ hopeless devotees, need an LA series win for the same reason we want a Stars win: it will cap the Oilers pick as no lower than the 24th overall. So, LA needs to win in Edmonton and then wrap the series in LA in a Game 7. Tall task, but tonight is the beginning of the end.
So watch some damn hockey.
