My Heart Doesn’t Deserve This Agitation for Meaningless Hockey…

Hello friends,

First and foremost, I apologize for the last two Sundays being a desolate wasteland in terms of my unique brand of sports and general bullshit thatis essentially me musing while hungover having coffee. The first one was not my fault. The internet I was on did not allow me to access the backend of our website while I was in the home of hockey, Montreal. Two days ago was completely and totally mea culpa. I went to the Flyers game Saturday with Kev, went to watch the fight later that evening with Lancaster, and then woke up to play a round of Master’s Sunday golf with the new addition, Bobby Prime Time. Needless to say, it was a weekend. So I’m going to kind of make up for it over the next few days because we sit at the precipice of this torture being over and just beginning at the same time. I feel like Alexandre Manette, and not in a good way.

The Philadelphia Hockey Flyera (not a typo editor, IYKYK) have 2 games left in the season and have decided to make life hard for all of us diehard phaithful. The Orange and Black have decided to do the most annoying thing ever post-Torts, and that’s rattle off 5 wins in their last 7 games, earning points in one of those losses as icing on the cake. The result is that the boys have moved from staring directly at the 4th overall pick with a chance to slide up one spot to 3rd, to being in the 6 spot of a draft that has at most five or six prospects that are universally deemed “top-end”. Now, with 2 games left on the docket, the Flyers could, based on the results tonight and Thursday, end up anywhere from the 4th best lottery odds all the way back to 9th.

Listen, I’m not going to go full panic mode, I already did that. While this prospects at the top look solid, they are not going to make the NHL next season, with that being the case, I would be fine with a top-6 pick this year and a team so bad next year that Gavin McKenna is a realistic thought at the conclusion of next season (seriously, if you have no idea who this kid is, do yourself a favor a watch below!)

There, I set the table for the final two games of the hockey season in the city of FAFO. Fortunately, the Blue Jackets have something to play for tonight, so I hope for a regulation loss. Regardless, I’ll be here every day for the rest of the week to over-analyze it and what it means because what else would I do with my time? Watch baseball?!! Did they even start yet? That’s nuts; baseball starts in July. Cheers.
