Listen, I’m not going to back down after patting myself on the back so much that I might need rotator cuff surgery from how well we did on the opening four days of the tournament. But this slate of games today is tough. We have four games on the docket, and I feel the need to give at least three units’ worth of action as we try to take that seven-unit profit and build the bankroll.
Let’s start by checking out our “stock” portfolio of future bets that were for a sprinkle (ie, a fraction of a unit each):
-Duke: We bought them at +310, and they are currently at +200. That’s a cash out for profit, but I think the move is hold unless you want to completely cash out of all 3 positions, at which point the appreciation here will cover the lost value in the Auburn future.
-Houston: bought at +650, and we’re at +500. Cash out now if you’re not a believer. No shame in it. It’s tough sledding from here. I personally am holding for at least one more round.
-Auburn: DAMMIT. Bought at +475, and they are at +500. Cash it out and take the small L. Or hold and dump after the sweet 16. They ain’t it.

Picks for Thursday
Chalky chalk chalk…
-Thursday 7:39 pm Florida -6.5 (1) vs Maryland (4): Yeah, remember that whole put a sprinkle on Auburn to win the tournament. Yeah. Hand up. I was wrong; it should’ve been the Gators. Maryland is a good team, but Florida is great, and with the distraction of Terrapins head coach Kevin Willard being linked to taking the Villanova job, the potential for an easy cover exists, which tilts this to a solid play.
-Thursday 9:39 pm Duke -9.5 (1) vs Arizona (4): Look, I might not be the most unbiased person in the world when it comes to the school in Tucson (No Pity for the Kitty, Forks Up!) And at the same time, I am a firm believer in dancing with the girl that brung ya. Duke has been the best team on our TVs in March. We are going to ride them until they definitively give us a reason not to. 2 unit confidence play!
The other two games are incredibly intriguing and almost cracked my official plays for today, but the total in BYU x Alabama is really high (175.5) and with good reason. This game will be high-scoring and entertaining. If I had to make a play, I lean over because it’s a coin flip, and life’s too short to bet the under… The other lean is taking the 5.5 points and Arkansas to see if Coach Cal can keep the ride going against a very good Texas Tech team.
Let’s have a day!
