A new food item for the 2025 season highlights something I have wanted at Citizens Bank Park for years

Today you are not getting analysis or some sort of intense breakdown from me. You are going to get one of my hyper-specific pet peeves. Something that I have desperately wanted at a Phillies game for years. This past week the Phillies announced a handful of tasty new treats at the ballpark for the 2025 season, one of which was a red velvet cookie affogato. For the uninformed, an affogato is a delightful treat where fresh espresso is poured over what is normally vanilla gelato. While there was no other info about this item, my hope is this brings in a new menu of items centered around one thing: Coffee.
It is insane that coffee is not ubiquitous and available in CBP. Now take this with a grain of salt because I am an admitted coffee addict, but it feels crazy for that to not be offered at CBP. I should probably specify too that while a place to get just black coffee would be nice, I am envisioning a nice coffee stand. One like the Cleveland Guardians have. A place to get an iced/hot latte or some other specialty beverage. It is often frigid on April nights and can be a bit chilly come late September/October. You’re telling me a nice warm coffee as a pick-me-up wouldn’t be incredible? “Well, what about the hot summer months?” I hear you say. Have you ever heard of iced coffee? Or a fun iced tea? Having access to caffeine in non-soda form would be a wonderful addition to any Phillies game, especially a post-work, weeknight game.
Hell, I’ll even start the menu for you:
First off, the ice cubes should look like little baseballs and obviously, there’s got to be some sort of collector’s cup.
Schwarbomb – A black coffee with a shot of espresso
Hot Stotty – Herbal tea, hot or iced with a shot of whiskey, lemon, and honey
Bryced Coffee – An iced Vanilla Latte made just like Bryce Harper makes his (As seen on his TikTok)
The Marsh – Iced/hot matcha latte with grated cinnamon
Wheels Up – Double shot of espresso
Alvagato – Classic Affogato
Bohm Run – hot or iced caramel latte with a splash of cayenne pepper
The Nola – A praline flavored Latte
The Ranger – Just a classic, reliable black coffee
The Phanatic – A traditional Irish Coffee served with Jameson
Iced Trea – Refreshing iced tea
To the Phillies, if you would like to send me any compensation for these ideas that would be great. I will though just take being able to have coffee in the stadium. If we want to talk business, let’s think of the crazy profit margin. I would happily pay $14 for a Phillies-themed latte in the ballpark. This feels like a super easy, win-win for fans and the team. There is no real reason not to open a coffee stand in Citizens Bank Park. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk
