Brace for Impact: It’s Cowboys Week

It’s Cowboys week and Hurts has been ruled out. This is a good thing. I have been sayin’ it all week. The best thing that could happen is the Birds rest whoever needs it this week, then roll up on Big Blue in week 18. That still sounds weird to say.

Rest Now, Win Later

I don’t think the Eagles are going as far as a pseudo bye week or pre-season game plan. However, I would endorse it fully; anybody who needs it. You stubbed your toe take the day. Zipped your sack in your pants fly, your riding pine.

A Birds win or a Commander’s loss and the division is locked up. Falcons at a paltry 8-7 had a nice little slump buster in the Giants last week and, leading their division, we’d expect ‘em to give it the ol’ college try. Who knows, maybe Penix will pick up some momentum and do our dirty work for us.

Eagles vs Cowboys: A Historically Ugly Matchup

Now I need yous guys to mentally prepare yourself. This game is gonna be fucking brutal to watch, and it’s gonna feel like it’s 5 hours long. We’ve had one of these per year going back to at least 2018. It’s always against the banner team for the 1990’s broken home youths (Lakers/Yankees if we change sports; I didn’t forget hockey, divorcees can’t afford to let their kids think about hockey JJ).

2018 was a heartbreaker; second-half surge and a loss in OT. 2019, a shell-shocked Wentz gets boat raced 37-10. 2020 was the Wentz/Hurts split year and Hurts took the L to the fucking Red Rifle. 2021 Hurts got rolled up late in the season. 2022 was peak MinshewMania but he came up short. Last year was a painful 33-13 drubbing. This week is that game.

I’ll call it a win if the game is competitive and entertaining. Admittedly, I was one of those guys screaming Kenny Fucking Powers after that 3/3 start with a TD to cap off Pickett’s first drive. After the way the game ended, I’m tempering my expectations. The opportunity is there with the division on the line and the Eagles won’t phone it in, it just has that feel about it.

Looking Ahead to Big Blue

Next week is the insurance policy. The Giants aren’t dumb enough to jeopardize the first pick in the draft and try to win that game. But we are talking about the same organization that paid Danny Dimes over Saquan.

How are we feeling in week 17? Let us know in the comments or on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or TikTok.
