Ranger Suárez has signed with Scott Boras, could we be saying goodbye to Ranger sooner than later?

If you’ve been paying attention to the Phillies’ offseason, you might’ve caught an interesting bit of news: Ranger Suárez has signed with a new agent, switching over to the ever-popular Boras Corporation. Yep, Ranger is now with that Scott Boras. On the surface, it’s not the most earth-shattering headline of the offseason, but it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on. According to FanSided, the Boras Corporation made this announcement on their Instagram Story Monday night.

Ranger Suárez has been one of the most reliable arms in the Phillies’ rotation—postseason legend, Swiss army knife, all-around calm and collected lefty. But this move to Boras signals something: Ranger’s future in Philly might not be as straightforward as we hoped. Scott Boras, if nothing else, is very good at getting his clients paid. And Ranger, currently heading into his final year of arbitration, is absolutely going to cash in next winter if his 2025 season looks anything like his last few.

Will Phillies pay for Ranger Suárez?

It’s no secret that Boras clients often test free agency. And while the Phillies have shown zero hesitation in handing out massive contracts (thanks, Middleton), the question becomes: will Ranger’s price tag match what the Phillies are willing to pay? After all, the team has already shelled out huge contracts to Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola, and their rotation depth is quickly becoming one of the organization’s calling cards.

For now, this doesn’t change much. Ranger is still here, still under team control for 2025, and still likely to play a huge role in the Phillies’ quest to get back to the World Series. But make no mistake: Boras is already setting the table for Ranger’s next big payday. Whether that happens in Philly or somewhere else might depend on just how good 2025 goes.

Pay attention, because Ranger’s next move might be one to watch.
