Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Ferris Bueller

The same could be said about UFC 310. While it’s a title fight at the top of the ticket, and Pantoja is a sick fucking name, to the filthy casual it’s just a couple of no-name flyweights with no public profile. I’m seriously about to say you can miss the last fight until I notice the guy on the other side, Kai Asakura, is getting his first fight in the UFC as a title bout with Alexandre Pantoja. As my cursory research goes I look up this guy’s highlights and he is savaging fools. The two of these guys combine for a 69% finish rate.

Ha 69.

On the flip side, Pantoja has never been put out, and Asakura hasn’t lost inside the distance in four years. This has the makings of a riveting, high-action fight, but it will likely be decided by the judges.

UFC 310: Best Fight Predictions

Shavkat Rakhmonov vs. Ian Machado Garry promises to be the best fight of the night and I would have bought the PPV just for this one. Both fighters are undefeated, though they have had different paths. Some would claim the matchmakers protect Gary and one of his recent decision wins over Geoff Neal was a little sus. To top it all off, this fucker is crying on the mic. Rakhmonov dawning his wolf skin hat boasts something Gary doesn’t have with his perfect record. A 100% finish rate. He is going to ride into the arena and smash Gary so hard he wished he didn’t take his wife’s name. In case you can’t tell I think it’s the Nomad by smash.

Ciryl Gane vs Alexander Volkov is the only heavyweight fight on the card. These guys are long and lean for a couple of heavies. More importantly, they’re both smart fighters. I don’t see these guys standing in the center and trading haymakers. We’re looking at paddy cakes here, maybe someone gets sparked. You can’t go for a beer and a piss cause it’s heavyweights, but after it’s over you might wish you had.

Big hillbilly energy in this next one with Bryce Mitchell. Kron Gracie is coming off being knocked out by “Air” Jourdain over a year ago. Love that kanuck. Before that, he was on a FOUR YEAR layoff after being knocked out. I didn’t look into why cause I’m a fucking casual. I like Mitchell to have a get right and get back to his finishing way by twisting this guy’s head off.

UFC 310 Honorable Mention

Early prelims pop off at 6 pm Eastern and the second fight on the card is a guy I like to watch in Clay Guida. Long in the tooth at 42, this dude still doesn’t hold anything back. Sloppy boxin’ fists a flyin’ and a partridge in a pear tree. He’s fighting Chase Hooper who came into the UFC at 19, and was once thought to be a prodigy. He’s now 25, has 9 fights in the best promotion, and is starting to build some momentum. Look for fireworks in this one, if you can sit down early, this will be worth it.

UFC 310 could be overlooked, but it’s a 14-fight card so there’s bound to be some good fights. Find your favorite butt grove on the couch and square up on that TV for like 7 hours of tucking your chin, like you can help the guy fend off that rear naked choke.
